About Bill Prince Yacht Design Inc.

Bill Prince began honing his yacht design skills aboard small boats on the St. Croix National Scenic Waterway and the Great Lakes. His passion for capable boats and emerging design talent led him to the acclaimed Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, encompassing the fundamentals of structural engineering, power transfer and marine engineering.

In 1996 Bill Prince won the National Marine Manufacturer's Association (NMMA) Yacht Design competition, besting professional naval architects from the United States and Europe. At the time he was in his junior year of engineering school.

This success launched Bill's yacht design career. Upon graduation he sought out the most highly-regarded yacht designers in the world to work for and learn from. Bill worked for three years at the offices of Michael Peters Yacht Design in Sarasota, Florida before moving to Newport, Rhode Island to serve as Design Engineer for America's Cup-winning legend Ted Hood. Bill then accepted the position of Design Engineer at Island Packet Yachts, where for five years he was involved in every aspect of the company's product development and yacht construction.

In addition, Bill Prince Yacht Design has developed designs for a wide variety of capable, seaworthy and compelling yachts on an independent basis. Call us today to begin a conversation about your own world-class yacht.
